German Association for Psychiatry, Psychotherapy and Psychosomatics (DGPPN)
Department “History of Psychiatry”

The new specialized department “History of Psychiatry” was established on 1 January 2009 within the German Association for Psychiatry, Psychotherapy and Psychosomatics. The constituent meeting of the scientific advisory board as well as the election of a new director with the participation of the head of the Research Unit PD Dr Thomas Müller took place on 10 March 2009 in Leipzig. The scientific advisory board and the management of the new department launched the planning of the first projects, among others in connection with the annual meetings of the DGPPN in Berlin. The direction of the department was handed over to PD Dr E. Kumbier (Rostock) for the period of two years. The members of the Association and other persons interested in history of psychiatry are requested to contact Mr Kumbier regarding further information and their inclusion in the e-mail newsletter.
